The Nature Conservancy's Plant a Billion Trees campaign is a major forest restoration program. Our goal is to plant a billion trees across the planet to slow the connected crises of climate change and biodiversity loss. The Kilimanjaro Project is proud to partner on this project, planting indigenous trees in the Kilimanjarop region Tanzania for this aim.
In partnership with TPC Sugar Plantations south of Moshi, we are planting 18,450 indigenous and rare species in the TPC-managed nature reserve Namalok. The reserve was fenced 4 years ago, in order to allow conservation of plant and wildlife to be restored. It is a unique opportunity for the restoration of ancient forests and savannahs, and the beginning of our journey to reintroduce and restore the critically endangered, endemic Prioria msoo.
