About the Organization

Trees That Feed Foundation was founded by Mary and Mike McLaughlin in 2008. Its main program is donating fruit trees to smallholder farmers.

TTFF donates seedlings, not seeds, mostly purchased from local nurseries.

To ensure that the trees survive and to maximize the benefits to the community TTFF also operates several supporting programs: Providing meals for young schoolchildren using local fruit and fruit products.

  • Training farmers and entrepreneurs: tree care, small business startups
  • Supplying equipment for processing fruit into marketable post-harvest productsPublishing activity textbooks to teach young schoolchildren about fruit trees
  • Conducting practical research into agroforestry.

These support programs are essential for permanent, sustainable results and ultimate food independence. TTFF has strong relationships with local partners who help to lead and execute on these programs. Trees That Feed Foundation uses Greenstand’s Treetracker as our primary tool for accountability. It helps us obtain an accurate survival rate, which we can share with our donors.

Mission

Trees That Feed Foundation’s mission is planting fruit trees to feed people, create jobs and benefit the environment. We help to educate on the benefits of fruit trees. TTFF’s goal is to eradicate hunger in Haiti, Jamaica and eighteen other developing countries in the Caribbean, Latin America, and Africa. TTFF’s vision is to see communities in these areas with a sustainable food supply, a marketplace for food products, increased job opportunities and an improved, reforested environment.
